About VoiceOfVillage

VoiceOfVillage is a directory and community platform for India's villages. Every village, mandal (or tehsil/block), district and state has a page built from public records, and residents can add what records don't hold: news, photos, history, jobs, local businesses and events.
Who runs it
VoiceOfVillage is run by VoiceOfVillage Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It was founded in 2026 by B. Sreekanth, Founder & CEO, who grew up in Kothapalli in Karimnagar district (about the founder). Villagers use the site free of charge; see how it works and our press kit.
VoiceOfVillage is not affiliated with The Village Voice, the New York newspaper, or with any parish magazine of a similar name.
An independent website — not a government site
VoiceOfVillage is not a government website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated on behalf of the Government of India, any State Government, any panchayat or the Election Commission. We republish public data with its source, and nothing here is an official record. For official certificates, records or services, contact the relevant government office.
The “Grama Sabha” pages are community discussion forums. They are not statutory Grama Sabha meetings under Article 243A of the Constitution, which are conducted by your elected panchayat.
Where the information comes from
Village names, codes and the administrative hierarchy come from the Local Government Directory (LGD); population figures come from the Census of India 2011 and are labelled as such. The full list, with licences, is on the data sources page. When a resident adds something, it is shown as a community contribution, not as an official fact.
How contributions are checked
- Posts, comments, photos and listings are screened automatically and, where needed, by a human moderator before they appear.
- Roles such as sarpanch or ward member are shown only after document checks or vouching by verified residents — never on a person's own say-so.
- Anyone can report content. See our editorial and moderation policy.
Mistakes and corrections
Public records contain errors and so can we. The corrections policy explains how to report a wrong name, code or figure and what we do about it.
Your data
We never ask for your Aadhaar number. What we collect and why is in the privacy notice; the rules for using the site are in the terms of use.
