Corrections policy
Last updated:
We would rather show a gap than a wrong fact. If you find an error, please tell us — corrections from residents are the main way this directory gets better.
Official records (names, LGD codes, census figures, election results)
These come from public sources — see data sources. We do not overwrite a figure because someone says it is wrong: a census count stays the 2011 count. Instead we:
- fix our own mistakes (a wrong match, a misspelt transliteration, a village placed under the wrong mandal) as soon as they are confirmed;
- update records when the source publishes a newer version, and show which version a page uses;
- keep a note of what was changed and why.
To report one, email grievance@voiceofvillage.com with the page link, what is wrong, and — if you can — a source (for example the LGD entry or a government notification).
Village descriptions and history
Use “Suggest an edit” on the village page. Every change is kept in the page's edit history, so earlier versions can be restored.
Posts, news and other community content
Authors can edit their own posts; edits are always shown. If a post about you or your village is wrong, use “Report” on it. Moderators can mark a news report as disputed or remove it.
How long it takes
Data-correction emails are acknowledged within 24 hours and answered within 15 days, the same as other grievances. See grievance redressal.
