Accessibility statement
Last updated:
VoiceOfVillage should work for everyone — on a low-cost phone, on a slow connection, with a screen reader, by keyboard or by voice. Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we do
- Pages are built with headings, landmarks and labelled form fields, and every page has a “Skip to content” link.
- Features are built to work with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline; tell us if one does not.
- Each language page declares its language so screen readers pronounce it correctly.
- Text and controls are checked for colour contrast; animations are turned off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Posts can be listened to aloud, and posts and searches can be made by voice where the browser supports it.
- Pages are designed for screens from 360 pixels wide, with touch targets of at least 44 pixels.
Known gaps
- Maps are visual; the same places are always listed as text on the page.
- Translations other than English are machine-assisted and still being reviewed by native speakers.
- Some older photos have no description yet.
