Find your village

Every village page in Andhra Pradesh shows the elections that apply to it. A gram panchayat's phase and its MPTC/ZPTC constituency appear once the State Election Commission's lists for them are loaded; until then the village page shows the statewide dates. Urban local body elections apply to towns and cities, not to villages.

Who is elected

Gram panchayat
The elected council of one or more villages. Voters elect a sarpanch (president) and a ward member for each ward; the upa-sarpanch is then chosen by the elected members.
Village
A revenue village (LGD record). Several villages can share one gram panchayat, and a large village can have several wards.
MPTC
Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency: a member of the mandal parishad, elected from a group of villages in the mandal.
ZPTC
Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency: a member of the zilla parishad, one per mandal. Zilla parishads can follow older district boundaries than today's districts (Andhra Pradesh has 13 zilla parishads for its 28 districts, per the Local Government Directory), so each village page names its own.
Urban local bodies
Municipal corporations, municipalities and nagar panchayats govern towns and cities, with corporators or ward councillors, a mayor or a chairperson. They are separate from gram panchayats; a village page never shows a municipal poll as its own.
Who runs the polls
The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission notifies these elections, publishes reservations, candidate lists and results, and orders any repoll.
