Sukanya Samriddhi Account (SSA)

A small-savings account a parent or guardian opens for a daughter under 10.

This is a guide, not a decision. Eligibility is decided by the department that runs each scheme.

Run by: Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs); open at a post office or bank

Official rule (in English, as published)

An account may be opened by a guardian for a girl child who has not attained the age of ten years on the date of opening. One account per girl, at most two girls per family (more for twins or triplets, with an affidavit).

Ask the office or portal which documents it needs; we list documents only where the official site does.
