Similia mandal in Baleshwar district, Odisha, comprises 211 revenue villages organised under 25 gram panchayats. According to Census 2011, the mandal had a population of 142,730 across 31,246 households, with a literacy rate of 71.4% and sex ratio of 968. The majority of the 56,063 workers were engaged in agriculture, with 17,489 cultivators and 9,743 agricultural labourers; 68.3% of households had access to piped water through JJM.
