Kullu Dussehra, which starts when the rest of India finishes

Kullu's Dussehra begins on Vijayadashami, the day the festival ends almost everywhere else, and runs for a week at the Dhalpur maidan. Hundreds of village devtas are carried down from their own hillsides on palanquins to attend, gathering around Raghunath, installed as the valley's ruling deity by Raja Jagat Singh in the seventeenth century. It is the village deities, not an effigy of Ravana, that this festival is built around.
