Patan mandal is located in Satara district, Maharashtra, comprising 327 revenue villages administered through 240 gram panchayats. According to Census 2011, the mandal had a population of 272,899 across 61,579 households, with a literacy rate of 68.6% and a sex ratio of 1066. The workforce numbered 133,122, including 62,976 cultivators and 24,789 agricultural labourers. As of the survey period, 82.1% of households had access to tap water through JJM schemes.
